Be sure to do this:

  1. Incorporate, or otherwise organize your group, according to the laws of your State.
  2. Obtain a Federal employer identification number.
  3. Apply for Federal tax exempt status.
  4. Register your organization as a charity according to the laws of your State.
  5. Understand your ongoing Federal and State recordkeeping and reporting obligations.
  6. Understand the Federal requirements for maintaining your tax exempt status.
